UNAIR NEWS – Alumna of the Faculty of Law (FH) Universitas Airlangga class of 1985, Filianingsih Hendarta was officially appointed as Deputy Governor of Bank Indonesia (BI), after passing the fit and proper test at the DPR RI building, Jakarta, on Monday, February 13, 2023.

According to bisnis.com, Amir Uskara, a Commission XI DPR RI member, said that President Joko Widodo had proposed two candidates for Deputy Governor of BI on the recommendation of BI Governor: Filianingsih Hendarta and Head of BI Regional Department Dwi Pranoto.

“After we listened to the feedback and inputs from all factions, the internal meeting of Commission XI DPR decided to elect Filianingsih Hendarta as Deputy Governor of BI by deliberation to reach consensus and acclamation,” he said.

Vision and strategy

During the fit and proper test, Filianingsih explained her vision to achieve a resilient, progressive, and inclusive national economy through an effective and synergistic digital economic and financial transformation acceleration strategy for the revival of Indonesia.

Her vision will be realized through three strategies: overseeing monetary stability, ensuring adequate and inclusive economic financing support, and formulating and implementing concrete steps to accelerate digital economic and financial transformation.

Career path

Filianingsih has pursued her career at BI since 1986. She was a staff member in the International Department of BI before she moved to Surabaya representative office

Throughout her career, Filianingsih had secured the position of Head of the Monetary Management Department in 2013-2015 and Head of the Macroprudential Policy Department in 2015-2019.

Currently, the Boston University alumna has served as Head of the Payment System Policy Department since 2019. The BI stakeholders and the public recognize her perseverance in strengthening the payment system.

Furthermore, Filianingsih is in charge of the 2025 Payment System Blueprint and leads the Garuda Digital Rupiah Project to maintain Rupiah sovereignty in the digital era, including the preparation of whitepapers.

During her service, she encouraged the project of implementing non-cash social assistance digitization, digitizing toll roads, and digitizing transportation together with relevant ministries or agencies.
