UNAIR NEWS - Wildan Haffata Yahfitu Zahra shared tips and tricks to pass the LPDP Scholarship selection. The activity took place at the LPDP Coaching Webinar held by “Our Alternative Education (Penata)” on Monday (06/26/2023).

Pay attention to the type of scholarship

Haffata or often called Ata is a History alumnus who graduated in 2018 and is currently an LPDP 2022 MA History awardee, UK. According to her, there are several things that applicants must pay attention to when they want to apply for LPDP. 

Among them is having to recognize the types of LPDP scholarships from the government. LPDP scholarships themselves are divided into 3 types, namely target scholarships (scholarships for TNI, Polri, civil servants, Entrepreneurship scholarships, scholarships for Ulama Cadre Education and specialist and subspecialist doctor scholarships), Affirmation scholarships (disability scholarships, affirmation regional scholarships, Pre-Prosperous scholarships, Papuan sons and daughters scholarships) and general scholarships (regular scholarships, World Premier Universities (PTUD) scholarships, partial scholarships).

"These general scholarships have a higher passing grade than scholarships in the affirmation pathway or target pathway. Regarding this passing grade, only the LPDP committee knows, but what I know is that the target or affirmation scholarships have a lower language score than the regular ones, "explained the Alumni of the Department of History, Faculty of Humanities (FIB) Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR).

Benefits of the program

According to Ata, the LPDP scholarship program is worth it. Not only will the awardees get complete educational facilities. They also get other benefits from participating in this scholarship. For example, awardees will be trained in a competitive environment and have personal qualifications.

"In the end, I got to know myself after participating in the LPDP selection. What are the weaknesses, what are the strengths? We will be asked these trivial questions during the interview. So we can get to know ourselves better. I think it is a good self-growth for every person's personality," she said.

Types of Selection

In the selection of LPDP scholarships, prospective awardees must also pay attention to 3 types of selection. They are administrative selection, scholastic talent selection and substance selection. 

Ata emphasized to pay attention to the documents needed in the administrative selection because this selection is the initial stage to go to the next selection. Completeness of documents must be prepared in accordance with the committee's request because if it is not appropriate, the result will not pass the initial stage of selection.

"Archive important documents, such as personal data and also supporting documents such as certificates of organizations, competitions and so on," she said.

Prepare Yourself Early

In addition, Ata also gave tips to prospective participants to prepare basic things before applying for LPDP. For example, the applicant is currently still in college, so he must be active as a student, active in organizations, participating in conferences, participating in competitions and other activities to support preparation as an LPDP applicant.

"The point is that as an active student, he has good grades but he can be present in the midst of his academic environment. Don't forget that while there is free time during college, you can also learn languages," she concluded.
