UNAIR NEWS: The Alumni Association of Airlangga University (IKA UNAIR) Sidoarjo branch held a social service event. The event, which also took place to commemorate Eid al-Adha 1444 H, targeted the community in Dusun Bangunrejo, Tambak Kalisongo Village, Jabon District, and Sidoarjo Regency on Sunday (2/7/2023).

Wrapped in the atmosphere of the holiday, the event carried the theme "Happy Eid al-Adha Mubarak 1444 H." The activity was carried out by distributing sacrificial meat and basic food packages door-to-door. The Chairman of IKA UNAIR Sidoarjo, Dr. Abdullah Khizam, stated that they wanted to share with the less fortunate in the community.

"We distributed 120 bags of food packages. Each package contained sacrificial meat, rice, and granulated sugar. Our hope is that the concern of IKA UNAIR Sidoarjo friends can help the community here," said the alumnus of the Faculty of Dental Medicine (FKG) UNAIR 1985.

In addition, during the distribution, IKA UNAIR Sidoarjo ensured the quality of the distributed packages, especially the sacrificial meat. The sacrificial animals were ensured to be healthy and of good quality. This was evident from the supervision of animal husbandry carried out by veterinarians. The sacrificial animals for the event were supplied by Panji Farm.

"As veterinarians, we provide safe, well-cared-for, healthy, intact, and halal sheep. Then, we ensure their well-being and good feed," said Dr. Emy Koestanti Sabdoningrum, dr.h M Kes, a lecturer at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (FKH) UNAIR and also the owner of Panji Farm.

The event was also carried out due to the limited consumption of meat in the community, especially healthy and guaranteed meat. In the future, the hope is for such social service activities to be carried out regularly and not limited to certain moments. In addition, public awareness of the benefits of consuming healthy meat needs to be increased. (*)
