Preparing Content to Make Your Business a Trend Tuesday, 08 August 2023 13:07

UNAIR NEWS - Social media provides many conveniences for users, such as business development. The large number of social media users has a significant impact on sales and profits. Social media offers a great opportunity for entrepreneurs to introduce their products to potential customers through the content they upload.

"There are four things to prepare before starting to create content. Namely, preparing social media accounts, getting to know social media, determining the content creation process, and social media reporting," said Arta Laras, Content Creator at PT Kasir Pintar Internasional, during the UNAIR DPKKA Webinar on Thursday, July 20, 2023.

Preparing Social Media

Before creating content on social media, the fundamental thing is to prepare your social media accounts. Preparations include completing your profile, account name, biodata, and other information. The second step is to transform your social media account into a business or professional account. The aim is to access features that can support the promoted business.

"To complete your biodata, you need three elements: who you are, what you share, and why the audience should follow your account," Arta Laras added.

Social Media Characteristics

After carefully preparing your account, the next step is to understand the characteristics of social media and its users. Each social media platform has its own distinct characteristics. Therefore, research is needed before creating content.

Social media for business also needs to have its own unique features. First, determine the distinctive visual characteristics, such as colors, design types, and font usage. Second, determine the unique content characteristics, which include the content's tone and language style. In certain circumstances, these unique content traits will develop over time.

Content Creation Process

"Before creating content, we need to understand the content pillars, which are thematic frameworks that serve as guidelines for creating content such as images or videos. These content pillars include promotion, education, community, entertainment, and engagement," explained Arta Laras.

The first step in content creation is conducting content research. Research involves monitoring competitors, observing trends, and brainstorming with the team. The second step is to create a content brief. A content brief is similar to a content calendar, containing posting dates, content types, content pillars, references and materials, and captions.

Third, coordinate the brief with the team, providing the brief to relevant team members such as graphic designers or videographers. Fourth, upload the content. Uploaded content should align with the previously established schedule. Lastly, review and report. The purpose is to assess whether the content has had an impact.

"If you want to consistently create content, having a content calendar is essential for accountability and motivation in meeting deadlines," said Arta Laras.

Reviewing or Reporting Content

If the content has been created and uploaded, the final step is reviewing and reporting on the content. By doing this, we can determine the impact the content has on our business.

"Things that need to be reported include the number of viewers, account interaction reach, visit counts, how many times users have viewed the content, interactions such as likes, comments, saves, and shares," explained Arta Laras. (*)
