Representing Graduates, Oktarina Emphasizes the “Candradimuka Crater” Spirit Friday, 18 August 2023 10:20

UNAIR NEWS - Emotion and proud feelings enveloped all graduates of batch 233 of Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR). The graduation ceremony which took place at the Airlangga Convention Center on Sunday, (13/08/2023) witnessed the ups and downs of the educational journey during the pandemic. One of them is Oktarina, a student of the Faculty of Dentistry Doctoral program who was chosen to represent the graduates' remarks.

"It is an honor for me to stand here to represent the graduates. I am also proud to be part of Universitas Airlangga, which is ranked 345th in QS World," she said.

Recalling the flashback of her education, Oktarina, told her story of being impressed by UNAIR Rector's message when she became a new student. At that time, Prof. Nasih, UNAIR Rector, said, "Welcome to Candradimuka Crater". She was curious about the saying and looked deeper.

Not content to stop there, Oktarina searched for the true meaning of the Candradimuka Crater during the education process. Until finally, she found the true meaning of the Candradimuka Crater as a place for personal training to become a strong figure trained agile.

Furthermore, she recounted her college days during the pandemic era, which experienced many obstacles during research. This was due to the lockdown of many research facilities.

"From there I learned to be patient and sincere, but I had a strong determination to complete my studies. That was my capital to move forward," she explains.

Getting a Research Grant

The length of a research program requires an increasing unit of funding. Again, this is not a reason for Oktarina to give up. Like the meaning of strong, agile, and trained, she always tries her best to complete her studies armed with patience and sincerity.

"Unexpectedly, thanks to the support of my mentor and study program, I received a Research Grant from the Research and Community Service Management Information System, which was enough to fund my research," she explained.

Many things can be learned in the Candradimuka Crater learning process. These lessons include greatness of heart, sincerity, patience, acceptance, and taking lessons from the journey of life.

"We must always be strong, trained, and agile. Be steadfast and move forward and enjoy the journey of life itself according to God's plan," she concluded.
