UNAIR NEWS - Faculty of Vocational Studies Universitas Airlangga (FV UNAIR) has successfully produced proud alumni who have careers in various fields. One of them is Adinda Putri who is now pursuing several professions across fields, namely reporter, presenter, model, and advertising star, even in acting.

Adinda's career has led her to explore various professions. Adinda also had time to explore several beauty pageant stages, until she got the title of Miss Indonesia East Kalimantan 2015, UNAIR Favorite Ambassador 2016, and Miss Earth Indonesia Animal Welfare 2018. 

At the FV UNAIR Alumni Virtual Gathering (26/08/2023), Adinda shared her experience and knowledge about employability skills.

The Importance of Employability Skills

Employability skills are important for all workers, especially for fresh graduates. This is because these abilities are skills and competencies that can improve workers to get or keep a job.

"Employability skills are more directed towards non-technical skills, which determine the direction of future careers. So, not only hard skills but also soft skills that make us survive in the world of work," said the first batch of the D3 English program.

Example and Application

There are many types of employability skills, among which the ones discussed in the activity are honesty, discipline, communication, adaptation, and management.

After exploring several professions, Adinda revealed that good communication is very important in all jobs. In addition, change is a certainty, so the ability to adapt to new environments must be honed.

"From my experience, I learned to understand people's characters quickly, position myself in the environment, and use the right jokes," she says.

One equally important thing is the ability to learn quickly (learning skills). With this ability, an employee will be able to compete in the world of work. Adinda explained that the world of work is indeed tough, but with our willingness and ability to keep learning, we will survive and thrive. (*)
