The activity was held through a Zoom meeting and live broadcast on YouTube DPKKA UNAIR. The event was the second week of collaboration between Airlangga Career & Internship Club (ACIC) and Boeing Company.

With the theme "Commercial Passengers / Air Cargo Market Update and Longterm Forecast," the event presented presenters who are experts in their fields. The speaker was Kathryn Peters, a Market Analyst at Boeing Commercial Company. At the beginning of her presentation, Kathryn explained how the aviation market is measured.

"The aviation market is measured based on three factors: capacity, traffic, and the load the aircraft can carry. How many can be accommodated, where the aircraft can fly to, and the load the aircraft can carry determine how the market is measured," Kathryn explained.

Indonesia is a Leader

Kathryn explained that Indonesia is a key leader in the Southeast Asia region. This, she continued, is based on data, Indonesia is the country with the best aviation market in Southeast Asia.

"Indonesia, before the pandemic, was the country with the largest aviation market above Thailand, Malaysia, and Vietnam," Kathryn explained.

In addition, based on data, she continued, in 2022, Indonesia had 260 million inhabitants. Based on predictions, Kathryn continued, there will be 390 million passengers in 2037 from Indonesia.

"These factors make Indonesia currently the seventh fastest-growing country in the aviation industry in the world," said Kathryn.

A Necessity for the Future

Kathryn said, the increasingly massive world market certainly requires an increase in quality and quantity. Therefore, there is a need for more air transportation production, namely aircraft.

"Due to the massive world market today, making the delivery of goods and transportation between countries faster and more numerous. This has increased the need for air transportation, namely aircraft. Based on predictions, over the next 20 years the world will need 42,495 new airplanes," concluded Kathryn.

Kathryn added that this is also an effort to balance market needs and transportation facilities. Thus, she continued, global market distribution can be integrated more quickly and easily.
