ACIC DPKKA and Boeing Collaborate to Hold Corporate Communication Webinar Friday, 29 December 2023 09:11

Airlangga Career & Internship Club (ACIC) DPKKA Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) collaborated with Boeing to hold an international webinar on Thursday, November 30, 2023. This activity took place online through the Zoom Meeting channel and Live YouTube DPKKA.

The event carried the theme "Real World Corporate Communications". On that occasion, Veronica Andrews MBA as President of the Boeing Indonesian Association was present as a speaker. Veronica said corporate communication is the management and orchestration of all internal and external communications to create a favorable point of view. In essence, there are various ways that companies do business and organize with various audiences.

"Integrated corporate communication is key to expressing the purpose, vision, and characteristics of their goods. From the messages presented to the workforce to how they speak to customers," she added.

The Effectiveness of Corporate Communication

Veronica says effective corporate communication can contribute to the success of an organization in a variety of ways. It builds employee morale, satisfaction, and loyalty to the company and organization.

"Communication skills are an important aspect that you must master before you want to enroll as a company employee. It is important to be able to collaborate with fellow employees and colleagues from various departments. Not only that, a great leader can also be seen from his communication skills," she said.

Furthermore, she revealed that every employee must have effective communication skills. This refers to active listening, written communication skills, good body language when speaking, thinking before speaking, maintaining a positive attitude and smile, and treating everyone equally.

"Effective communication skills are an important aspect that employees should pay attention to in working within the company. If they apply and hone these communication skills, it is possible to achieve success in the future," she explained.

Communication Barriers in Global Business

According to Veronica, communication barriers in the business world include wrong communication channels, language differences between speakers and speech partners, differences in work culture, and unsuitable communication styles. These barriers affect performance and communication relationships between employees, leaders, and colleagues of other companies.

"Language differences between speakers and audiences are indeed a problem for companies. For example, KFC mistranslated in Chinese because they only relied on direct translation from Google. Their slogan (It's finger lickin good) became misunderstood as (Eat your finger off)," she said.

"Tips to succeed in the global business world not only require effective communication skills. In addition, employees must also have the ability to adapt such as the language or work culture of the company," she concluded.
