DPKKA holds entrepreneur webinar on export business opportunities Friday, 23 February 2024 14:24

UNAIR NEWS – The Directorate of Career Development, Entrepreneurship Incubation, and Alumni Affairs (DPKKA) at Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) organized a webinar for the Airlangga Entrepreneur Club on Thursday, Jan 18, 2024. The webinar, titled “Paving Success in the Export Sector,” delved into business opportunities in the export sector.

The online event, conducted through two different platforms, Zoom meeting and YouTube, featured Ramadhan Pambayung, an alumnus of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) at Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR). Through this webinar, he, involved in export trade, stated that businesses like this have the potential for a vast market.

“Exporting goods and services to other countries is a long-term business because it can reach a broader market. This situation can be a promising business potential,” he explained.

Ramadhan, also known as the Director of CV Indonesia Koneksi Global and Warkowil IEC East Java, further explained that the export value in Indonesia has increased. This condition proves that many foreign consumers need commodities available in Indonesia.

“Accumulatively, the average development of Indonesia’s export value has shown an increasing trend and reached its highest point in 2022, although there was a slight decrease in 2023,” he revealed.

Export flagship products
Ramadhan went on to explain the flagship products that have garnered significant purchase requests. There are five types of flagship agricultural export products from Indonesia: coffee, rubber, spices, tea, and chocolate.

“Many Arab countries really like Indonesia’s original coffee. They believe that the taste of Indonesian coffee is better than Brazilian coffee. Besides, Indonesia is also known for its spices and chocolate, which have many enthusiasts in various countries,” he stated.

The global market demand for these products, according to Ramadhan, opens up opportunities for local farmers to try their luck on a global scale. “From an economic perspective, the global market reaches more consumers, leading to increased profits. Through these significant profits, new business opportunities can arise, boosting the company’s existence,” he explained.

Easy steps for export
Apart from discussing the advantages of exports, Ramadhan also shared easy steps to start an export business. He mentioned that exporting is not difficult. After establishing a product and deciding on a global market, one must compile legal papers for export.

“Business actors intending to export can do it independently or through business entity intermediaries. If exporting independently, they need to download the PEB (Export Notification of Goods) module to prepare the supporting documents,” he clarified.
