UNAIR NEWS – The Sociology study program is the first department in the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) at Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR). The Sociology Department is an innovative and excellent study program in learning, research, and sociological development for social planning, development, and solving social problems. 

The Coordinator of the Sociology Undergraduate Program, Dr Septi Ariadi, Drs, MA, explained that a comprehensive and dynamic curriculum had been created to equip students with various technical skills and opportunities for the development of applied knowledge that students can explore. Efforts to improve the quality of education involve experienced and competent teaching staff.

“Studying Sociology at UNAIR offers unique advantages, including immersive learning experiences where students directly engage with communities through field research in courses like Social Typology and Rural Sociology,” he explained

Recognition and program accreditation 
Furthermore, the department’s activities also support the Sociology program to synergize within the scope of international and national scientific disciplines. The UNAIR Sociology program has been ranked third nationally according to QS WUR By Subject. It has also obtained international accreditation from the Accreditation Service for International Schools, Colleges, and Universities.

In this regard, he expressed his gratitude for the achievements. His team remains committed to maintaining and improving their best performance from year to year. For him, rankings are just a bonus; the most essential aspect of the learning process is students as the subjects of learning and the quality of the learning process.

Career prospects  
Throughout the four years of study, the Sociology study program at UNAIR supports national and international programs, such as the Independent Learning Emancipated Campus Program (MBKM) during specific semesters. Participating students can earn credit recognition or conversion.

Future employment opportunities with a Sociology (S.Sosio) degree include being a professional sociologist. Graduates can pursue careers as lecturers, teachers, business managers, public consultants, social researchers, journalists, government specialists, entrepreneurs, and political party activists.

“Regardless of the department’s goals, UNAIR Sociology graduates possess reliable academic and professional skills. They can apply information, skills, and attitudes that are consistent with the fundamental values of Pancasila and noble values,” he said.
