UNAIR NEWS – Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) held a gathering and iftar event with international students on Monday, March 25, 2024 evening. It was organized to strengthen ties between international students and the leadership at Universitas Airlangga.

Organized by Airlangga Global Engagement (AGE) in collaboration with the International Students Association (ISA), the gathering was attended by the leadership of Universitas Airlangga along with dozens of international students from both double-degree and non-degree programs. Universitas Airlangga Rector, Prof Dr Mohammad Nasih SE MT Ak, conveyed that the event was a manifestation of UNAIR’s characteristic as a melting pot of various cultures and ideas.

“This meeting holds significant meaning as it symbolizes the richness and diversity that characterize our institution. UNAIR takes pride in being a place where cultures, ideas, and perspectives from around the world blend,” said Prof Nasih.

Prof Nasih also explained the important role of international students in enriching the academic community within UNAIR. “Our international students play a crucial role in enriching our academic community because your diverse backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives greatly contribute to our dynamic campus life,” he stated.

He believes the Ramadan atmosphere and the gathering could serve as a moment to strengthen the bonds of the entire academic community. “As we break our fast together tonight, let us reflect on the values of compassion, empathy, and solidarity that Ramadan teaches us. It is a time for spiritual rejuvenation, self-reflection, and sharing kindness. Regardless of our backgrounds or beliefs, let us embrace the spirit of unity as we share this meal,” Prof Nasih expressed.

In the end, Prof Nasih also expressed gratitude to all international students who have chosen UNAIR as their home of learning. The Professor from the Faculty of Economics and Business also hoped that all international students could gain valuable experiences during their studies at Universitas Airlangga.

“Your presence enriches our campus life and fosters crucial cross-cultural understanding in today’s interconnected world. I hope your time here is filled with meaningful experiences, academic success, and cherished memories. And don’t forget to graduate on time,” Prof Nasih concluded.
