UNAIR NEWS - In the era of digitalization, almost all sectors of life can be accessed easily through devices. In fact, job opportunities can be found just by surfing through digital platforms, such as Linkedin. However, for some people who are not familiar with Linkedin, this is actually an obstacle.

Based on this, the Directorate of Career Development, Entrepreneurship Incubation, and Alumni (DPKKA) Universitas Airlangga held a webinar entitled "Linkedin as a tool for your career success".This event was held on Thursday (14/3/2024) through a Zoom meeting. The guest speaker was Lanny Wijaya, a senior learning solutions specialist at Linkedin.

Get to know Linkedin before branding yourself

Lanny said, before starting self-branding through Linkedin, users must know the basic tools so that they can use the right tools according to their needs. Such as, headline tools, summaries, skills, and others. According to him, Linkedin is basically not only a place to look for career opportunities, but also information about training internships and competitions. "So Linkedin is not only for job seekers. Students can start developing their careers through Linkedin," said Lanny.

Your Network is Your 'Net Worth'
For Lanny, social networking is an important step in her career. In this case, Linkedin can play a big role in developing a social network if developed well. Therefore, it is important for a person to find their work interests to attract the right people.

He urged students to use Linkedin as a means of branding themselves to leave a good track record before starting a professional career. "You can start by listing your internship experience, achievements, and organizations on Linkedin as the first step of self-branding," he explained.
