Collaborating with POM, DPKKA Holds Campus Wellness Entrepreneurship Program Tuesday, 02 July 2024 15:56

UNAIR NEWS - Directorate of Career Development, Entrepreneurship Incubation and Alumni (DPKKA) Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) held Airlangga Entrepreneur Club. Discussing Campus Wellness Entrepreneurship, a webinar from the Food and Drug Administration (POM). Present at the event were Arie Kurnianingsih SFarm Apt and Eka Mardiyah SFarm Apt, pharmaceutical and food supervisors (PFM) of the POM Center Surabaya. The activity took place online on Tuesday (4/6/2026).

The "BPOM - Campus Wellness Entrepreneurship" program is an activity with a background of pandemic conditions that have an impact on lifestyle. Another background is wellness tourism which focuses on health and fitness concerns. On the development or innovations in cosmetics, traditional medicines, and health supplements. As well as entrepreneurship opportunities, the Job Creation Law, university collaboration, and pharmapreneurs.

 

The purpose of the program is to increase the knowledge of the academic community about business opportunities and the provisions for the production of natural medicines and cosmetics. In addition, it is also for capitalization and product marketing strategies, the formation of innovative natural ingredients and cosmetics MSME startups to create jobs.

"So, one of the goals of this program is to provide assistance so that young entrepreneurs understand the regulations based on BPOM," explained the Head of the Data and Evaluation Section of the Planning and Finance Bureau of BPOM Surabaya, Yuli Ekowati, who was also present at the event.

 

MSME Assistance
Through the statement of Arie Kurnianingsih SFarm Apt, as the BBPOM resource person, stated that the Traditional Medicine and Cosmetics MSME assistance program at BBPOM had actually started in 2017.

"So, before the Campus Wellness Entrepreneurship Program, BBPOM Surabaya has been providing assistance to Traditional Medicine MSMEs since 2017," he said.

Furthermore, there are several scopes of assistance. "For the first, conducting gradual CPOTB technical guidance, then assisting the gradual CPOTB process. Well, after the process, there will be an obligation to make improvements from business actors," Arie explained.

"The improvement itself is outlined in the CPOTB CAPA, through the gradual CPOTB CAPA desk assistance. So, we assist the improvement by business actors of the non-conformity of the phased CPOTB aspects," he added.

 

MSME Criteria
Then, related to the criteria for MSMEs that receive BPOM assistance, including MSMEs that have total assets outside of land and buildings of less than ten billion. As well as MSMEs of Natural Medicines and Quasi-Medicines that already have a distribution permit but have not yet certified the fulfillment of CPOTB aspects.

"In addition, there are also MSMEs of natural medicines and quasi-medicines that are pioneering in the fulfillment of CPOTB aspects in stages, have a CPOTB certificate for stage I and will go to the next stage. Having separate production facilities with household activities has an NIB (Business Identification Number) from the OSS-RBA system and is committed to following all stages," he added.

All of these processes are free of charge. Assistance is free, audit fees are also free, then there is a product test at the BBPOM Surabaya Laboratory which is also free but with a limited quota.
