DPKKA Holds Webinar with Looyal Indonesia to Uncover Strategies for Building Startups Tuesday, 09 July 2024 14:13

UNAIR NEWS - Directorate of Career Development, Entrepreneurship Incubation, and Alumni (DPKKA) Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) held a webinar on Friday, July 5, 2020. The webinar, which discussed the strategy of building a startup, collaborated with Looyal Indonesia by presenting CO FOunder and CEO, Kevin Goly.

Kevin said that mentality and perseverance must be present when you want to start building a startup or startup business. Kevin said that a startup business can survive because it has a strong reason to survive. "In Looyal, we have a reason that can make us survive for four years, namely BISA or Brave, Innovative, Solutive, Achieve," he said.

Startup Building Strategy
The trend of startup development in Indonesia experienced a surge in 2017-2018, which was the beginning of many startups being formed. However, during the Covid-19 period many startups failed. Kevin said that the startup trend in Indonesia has its own narrative every year. "The popular sector in Indonesia has its own narrative every year," he said.

According to him, if you want to create a startup, you have to remember that a big company that was created at this time had a considerable effort at the beginning of its creation. Large companies also have high dedication from their employees. "You can love the idea but you have to love the process more," said the CEO of Looyal Indonesia.

Work Culture
In the webinar, Kevin explained that the work culture of startup companies is not as much as corporate companies. This makes the work system in startup companies tend to be at a faster pace. "The employees also have to adapt to the development of startup companies. Work culture in startup companies is not too complicated so it runs at a fast pace," he said.

Unlike large corporate companies that avoid innovation, according to Kevin, startup companies still need innovation. This is because innovation in startup companies will have a greater impact than innovation in corporate companies. "When in a startup, innovation is the number one priority, so that it can encourage its development," he said.
