DPKKA hosts HR Gathering involving hundreds of partners and alumni Friday, 02 August 2024 10:07

UNAIR NEWS – The Directorate for Career Development, Incubation, Entrepreneurship, and Alumni Affairs (DPKKA) Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR), in collaboration with the Faculty of Psychology (FPsi), hosted an HR Gathering. The event, themed “Building and Enhancing Organizational Capability,” was held at the East Ballroom of Hotel Oakwood Surabaya on Saturday, July 20, 2024. A total of 122 partners and FPsi UNAIR alumni attended the event.

Prof Dr. Elly Munadziroh, Director of DPKKA, stated that the gathering aimed to facilitate knowledge sharing among HR professionals about contemporary business organization. The HR Gathering also demonstrates UNAIR’s commitment to enhancing the employability of its graduates.

“Through this event, we hope UNAIR can expand its network with partners to boost employability. It will enable UNAIR alumni and graduates to fully develop their careers,” said Prof Munadziroh.

UNAIR organizes career fairs, campus hiring events, and entrepreneurship talks twice a year. These events not only facilitate partners but also help UNAIR graduates secure jobs that match their skills and needs.

“We are also grateful to our partners who have collaborated with UNAIR. Their involvement is crucial to the success of our career fairs. We hope new partners will join us in making these events successful,” emphasized Prof Munadziroh.

Prof Dr. Sukardiman, UNAIR’s Director of Academic Affairs, also attended the event. He emphasized that universities should not only produce high-achieving graduates but also those ready to enter the professional world. In other words, every university graduate must be prepared to compete in the job market.

The professor from UNAIR’s Faculty of Pharmacy noted that the government supports universities in producing job-ready graduates. Prospective graduates can enhance their job competencies through the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) program.

Prof Sukardiman added that new and existing partners are expected to support the MBKM program by providing internship opportunities for prospective graduates. This will allow them to gain experience and develop soft and hard skills before starting their professional career.

“Effective collaboration between partners and universities can improve employability significantly. Thanks to these partnerships, UNAIR is ranked second in Indonesia for Employer Reputation. We must maintain and improve this rank annually,” asserted Prof Sukardiman.

In the end, he hopes that the gathering will serve as a platform for exchanging insights on preparing UNAIR’s prospective graduates. This way, UNAIR graduates will excel academically and have great competence in the professional world.
