UNAIR NEWS - Directorate of Career Development, Entrepreneurship Incubation and Alumni (DPKKA) Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) held a webinar on Thursday, September 12, 2020. This webinar raised the theme Benevolent Leadership in Digital Era. This webinar is part of a series of programs owned by Airlangga Career and Internship Club (ACIC). The purpose of this webinar is to educate

students about leadership in the digital era, especially in the business world.

In this activity, students get direct learning from experts. DPKKA presented Swasono Satyo Nugroho as a speaker at this webinar. Swasono is the Chief Human Resources Officer Tech Business at Sinar Mas Multiartha & Mining Group. Interesting themes and presenters made more than 180 participants attend the webinar.

The Importance of Organizing

In the material discussion session, Swasono explained about the various characters that a leader must have. These characters are grit, collaboration, and the spirit to win. Swasono also urged students to build leadership character since they were in college.

“To be a leader, you must be able to problem solve. To have that skill , you must have experience. Therefore, when you are a student, start organizing. It will also be your plus point when applying to a company,” Swasono said.

Furthermore, Swasono explained about how to manage oneself, work, and team. According to him, a leader must be able to manage himself in facing challenges and failures. Leaders must also be able to manage their work and organize their team.

Commitment to Sustainability

Not only discussing leadership, Swasono also raised the issue of sustainability in the business world. He revealed that companies have responsibilities towards the government, environment, and social. “Companies must obey the state. They have to obey the rules. They also have to be responsible for the environment, so they don't damage the environment. Socially, it is like employment or charity

for the poor,” said Swasono.

According to him, a business must care about the sustainability of nature and social good. In doing business, one must think about the life of the next generation. This is what will make a company successful and long-lived.
