UNAIR NEWS - Getting an internship opportunity at a prestigious institution is the dream of most students. The reason is that internships are an opportunity to gain experience and the beginning of a student's career footing in the future.

UNAIR Data Science Technology student, Rafie Ananta, had the opportunity to join an internship program at Bukit Vista, a hospitality property management start-up. He participated in a series of programs from MSIB (internship and certified independent study) Kampus Merdeka under the auspices of the Indonesian Ministry of Education and Culture.

Achieving an internship opportunity at Bukit Vista is undoubtedly a challenging thing. The reason is, Rafie must pass a rigorous selection before finally being selected as a data science intern.

Previously, Rafie was required to participate in the HOO (Hospitality Operation Orientation) process and act as an operational team caring for guests and partners. HOO is a critical process to introduce the primary business operations at Bukit Vista.

From the HOO process, Rafie realized how difficult it was to find information needed by guests. Therefore, he developed an innovation called OSAI (Operations Supervision Artificial Intelligence), which aims to facilitate the search for guest information.

"I think there are difficulties in finding information for guests. From there, I took the initiative to create knowledge management that could provide the operational team with the information they needed at a glance. Finally, I came up with the idea to make OSAI (Operations Supervision Artificial Intelligence)," Rafie told UNAIR NEWS on Friday (20/1/2023).

Furthermore, Rafie explained that OSAI is an intelligent chatbot that can answer questions about property facilities, check-in and check-out procedures, and general policies for guests staying.

Rafie's OSAI has a unique advantage, namely being able to cut the time used by Bukit Vista employees to find information, which usually ranges from three minutes to one hour to less than 30 seconds.

Coming up with technological innovation like OSAI was certainly with obstacles. Rafie admitted that he had experienced difficulties, especially when applying things he had never learned in college.

"To make a project like this is a bit difficult because the tools used are different, so we have to learn again from scratch. In addition, it turns out that many things must be done but have not been learned in college, so we have to learn on our own too," Rafie explained.

Nevertheless, Rafie should be proud because he was trusted as a leader/supervisor of the hosting team, which seniors dominate. He also held several important positions as directed by the CEO. This was also impressive for him during his internship at Bukit Vista.
