The Alumni Association of Universitas Airlangga (IKA UNAIR) DKI Jakarta held a gathering for IKA UNAIR DKI Jakarta members. The event raised the theme of Knitting Gatherings Strengthening Existence. The event was held on Sunday, August 6, 2023, at Soehanna Hall, The Energy Building SCBD, Jakarta.

Attending the event, Chairman of PP IKA UNAIR and Governor of East Java Khofifah Indar Parawansa, Deputy Chief Justice of the Supreme Court Sunarto, Deputy Governor of Bank Indonesia (BI) Filianingsih Hendarta, Deputy for Strategic Policy of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy Nia Niscaya, and Chairman of the General Election Commission 2017-2022 Arief Budiman.

"Here are experts from various professions. And this is the strength of Universitas Airlangga. Of course, this is a strength that is already significant enough to contribute, but the “sound” needs to be encouraged again," she said.

The Need for Consolidation

She also conveyed the need for measurable consolidation for all alumni to improve UNAIR branding in a wider arena, and this is a common task. Moreover, with a strategic position, namely East Java, UNAIR will become a center of knowledge that is looked at from various sides.

"Almost 80 percent of Eastern Indonesia's logistics outside South Sulawesi is supplied by East Java. Of the 32 sea highway routes, 27 are from Surabaya. So indeed Bappenas said that East Java is the center of gravity," she added.

Seeing that, Khofifah wants IKA UNAIR to be able to express strategic thoughts, especially for Indonesia's Development in 2045. With this condition, she explained, UNAIR will be an area that has great strength to support this. She will also continue to try to introduce the campus to the international network.

The same thing was also conveyed by the Chairperson of IKA UNAIR DKI Jakarta region, Dr. Solikin M Juhro SE MAE MA. According to him, the contribution of UNAIR alumni who have spread across the country and the world will have a huge impact. Moreover, UNAIR has become a leading university in the world. Surely this is the result of joint work, by both educators and alumni.

"There are more than a thousand alumni in Online Registration. This proves that UNAIR alumni are very solid and ready to meet future challenges and increase their contribution to development," he said. (*)
