UNAIR FIB lecturer and alumni support international conference on Japanese Literature Monday, 25 September 2023 07:18

UNAIR NEWS – A lecturer and four UNAIR FIB alumni participated in The 11th Forum on East Asia and Contemporary Japanese-Language Literature on September 1-2, 2023, at Grand Inna Kuta Bali. This conference was attended by more than 120 academics from various countries, such as Japan, Korea, China, Taiwan, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines and the United States. This activity was actually planned for 2021. However, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the implementation was postponed to 2023.

The conference with the theme “Glocal Culture and Intersectionality in Modern Asia: Representation, Conflict, and Co-Existence” was organized by the Forum on East Asia and Contemporary Japanese-Language Literature in collaboration with the Indonesian Association for Japanese Literature Studies. / ASKJI). Meanwhile, the main sponsor of this activity is The Japan Foundation, with other international institutions such as the Toshiba Foundation, the National Research Foundation of Korea.

The organizing committee for this conference is ASKJI and supported by lecturers, students and alumni from Universitas Airlangga, University of Indonesia, Udayana University, and Dr. Soetomo University Surabaya. The delegates from Universitas Airlangga were Antonius R. Pujo Purnomo, Ph. D., the head of ASKJI, and four alumni of the Japanese Studies Study Program FIB UNAIR: Ilma Septiana Widiawati (2022 graduate), Zhafira Kania (2022 graduate), Giovanni Yerikho (2023 graduate), and I Putu Ryuta Adikumara (2023 graduate).

The participation of four FIB alumni in this activity was a form of self-development after graduating from college and alumni participation in supporting international cooperation. Through this activity, alumni work with fellow team members from other universities in Indonesia, and thanks to good cooperation from all team members, the event was a success. The Indonesian team’s work gained appreciation from all conference participants.
