UNAIR NEWS - Independent Entrepreneurship (Wirausaha Merdeka) Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) entered the second week of Entrepreneur Pathways on Monday, September 11, 2020. The program named Airlangga Collaborative Entrepreneur Camp (ACEC) took place at Candradimuka Auditorium, MERR-C Campus UNAIR.

At the meeting, ACEC UNAIR specifically invited Jhonny Thio Doran. He is a young entrepreneur and CEO of a leading gadget accessories company, JETE Indonesia. He gave insight into the utilization of the digital era in the business world.

In the material entitled Shifting in Digital Era, Jhonny said that 2023 is the golden age of young people. Young entrepreneurs should be able to take advantage of their privileges and race to be the first.

"Today 2023 is the digital era, the champion of young people. Don't let you lose, be a guest, or you become a spectator, but you must be a winner because this is our time," said Jhonny.

Therefore, Jhonny emphasized that it is important for every entrepreneur to shift to new methods in this digital era. According to him, we cannot behave, think, and act in the same way if we expect to succeed in an ever-changing world.

The Importance of Being Active and Flexible

In the future, continued Jhonny, the basis for determining employee selection is 91 percent dependent on the individual's ability to deal with change. He pointed out that in this digital era, many changes have occurred in the steps of doing business, one of which is the buying and selling procession.

"If you want to succeed in 2023, use the 2023 method, don't use the 2020 method because it's already stale. Remember, in 2022 there wasn't much live streaming, right? In 2023 there is live streaming, which means you have to be able to learn live streaming," he explained.

"So you must be able to have the ability to deal with change and uncertainty because movement is so fast. In 2024, I guarantee that the trend will change again, what is the method, what is the concept, just follow it," he continued.

Build a Solid Team

Furthermore, Jhonny also revealed that the shift does not only apply to business steps but also the mindset of the businessman himself. To build a big business, there needs to be a solid team and cannot rely on the ability of just one person.

"From a great person to a great team. So from now on, it's the age of collaboration, don't work alone, you won't find great work," he said.

Nevertheless, Jhonny also realizes that not everyone can get a solid team from the start of building a business. If that happens, then the entrepreneur has to take the first step. A solid team will later be built while the business is running.

"So if you haven't found the right partnership, just work first. Don't let that be an excuse not to start. Because there is no great work without the first step," he concluded.
