As one of the best national universities, Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) continues to improve its quality in various aspects, including facilities. As proof, UNAIR is increasingly aggressively building new facilities and infrastructure, such as Plaza Airlangga. Plaza Airlangga is a unified building with economic, social, and health functions.

The construction of the plaza is now entering its initial stage marked by the groundbreaking ceremony on Friday, September 15, 2023. The event took place in the Plaza Airlangga construction area, west of Airlangga Convention Center (ACC), MERR-C UNAIR Campus.

Facilities and Capacity

The 5,530 m2 building has several supporting facilities in the form of outdoor and semi-outdoor spaces. The facilities include a business center that provides shopping facilities, office space, and a hall with a capacity of 500 people.

Not only that, the five-story building is also complete with a Health Service Center (PLK). The PLK can support the health of the academic community and the community around the MERR-C UNAIR campus.

Collaboration Room

UNAIR Rector, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Nasih, SE, MT, Ak. He said that the construction of Plaza Airlangga is a form of UNAIR's commitment to supporting all stakeholders to collaborate.

"The construction of this plaza is a form of UNAIR's commitment to supporting all stakeholders. Later there will be a business center, health services, and business space that can be useful for anyone to collaborate, "said Prof. Nasih.

Furthermore, Prof. Nasih said that Plaza Airlangga's success resulted from cooperation and contributions from various parties, including alumni. Therefore, he expressed his gratitude for the support and assistance that never stopped flowing.

"This is part of friendship, cooperation, and networking as well as a form of contribution from our alumni. Once again we are very grateful for the help and cooperation of all of us," continued the Professor of the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) UNAIR.

Proof of Contribution

Meanwhile, Dra Hj Khofifah Indar Parawansa, MSi as General Chairperson of the UNAIR Alumni Family Association (IKA) said that the Plaza Airlangga groundbreaking agenda was also a gathering event. So, this momentum is expected to strengthen understanding and mutual trust between UNAIR and alumni.

"This afternoon, we will gather our programs and thoughts so that our understanding and trust will emerge together," she said.

The Governor of East Java also said that UNAIR's contribution is so great to the development of the nation and state. The establishment of Plaza Airlangga is a tangible manifestation of UNAIR's contribution to the people of East Java and Indonesia in general.

"It means that UNAIR's contribution is so much needed not only as an intellectual reference but also psycho-social and sociological. For example, to see how the results after the implementation of this plaza infrastructure for the community, " she said.

After giving a speech, Khofifah and UNAIR Rector symbolically inaugurated the first phase of Plaza Airlangga. Then, the event ended with a joint review of the plaza construction site.
