UNAIR NEWS - Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) graduation is always a memorable moment for the alumni. Such was the case in the 234th graduation period on Saturday, October 14, 2023. Among the 1,382 inaugurated graduates, there are always interesting stories and inspirational stories. UNAIR Rector, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Nasih SE MT Ak allowed the graduates to share their educational experiences.

Age is no barrier

One interesting story came from Adri Istambul Lingga Gayo Sinulingga. He officially graduated from the Master of Management program, at the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) UNAIR. Adri graduated at the age of 54 with a near-perfect cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.86.

Adri said that age is not an obstacle for everyone to gain knowledge. Instead of feeling ashamed, he feels proud because he can complete his studies at an age that is no longer young.

"As a Knight of Airlangga, I am always confident and proud to be part of UNAIR. Alhamdulillah, even at the age of 54, I managed to graduate from FEB UNAIR S2 with a GPA of 3.86. This is the result of hard work and certainly an achievement for me," he said when representing the graduates.

Graduated with Son

Adri said that this graduation was a very memorable moment for him. Not only because of his achievements but also because he was confirmed as a graduate with his son.

His son, Muhammad Surya, is also a graduate of the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) UNAIR. Interestingly, the father and son each received thesis and thesis guidance from the same party.

"My son and I were both mentored by husband and wife, Mr. Gancar and Ms. Masmira. And I did not expect that the same guidance could lead us to graduate together today," he said.

Similar to Adri, Surya felt proud and happy to be graduating with his father. "Alhamdulillah, I can graduate with my father today," said Surya.

Finally, Adri expressed his gratitude to his wife. Thanks to her support and prayers, he and his son were able to complete their education smoothly and at the same time.

"Thank you to my wife and the mother of my children. We can be up here because of her support and prayers," Adri concluded.
