UNAIR NEWS – JAKARTA, Universitas Airlangga was selected as one of the Most Informative Public Institutions in the state university category. The award was granted by the Central Information Commission of the Republic of Indonesia (KIP).

Chairman of the National Agency Central Information Commission, Donny Yoesgiantoro, presented the award to the Rector of Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR), Prof. Dr. Mohammad Nasih SE MT Ak, on Tuesday (19/12/2023) at the Vice President’s Palace, Jakarta. UNAIR is among the top 15 National Public Institutions and ranks 8th in the category of state universities.

“The openness of public information is essential in Good Governance. It serves as a benchmark for the success of information deliverability and bureaucracy,” said Vice President Ma’ruf Amin.

He believed that the transparency of information nurtures democracy with the ultimate goal of improving people’s welfare. “This year, the number of public institutions classified under the informative category has significantly increased, reaching 37.7 percent from the previous year. This achievement must be maintained into the following periods,” he added.

Prof. Nasih expressed gratitude and pride that UNAIR has maintained its status as a top university for the past three years. He added that this accolade is not a competition, but rather a reminder and commitment to improving public information services in the future.

“UNAIR’s accomplishment should encourage us to consistently provide public services for the broader community,” he said.

UNAIR has made numerous innovations, such as the Public Information Openness digital book for public use. All innovations were made to enhance the accessibility of information regarding UNAIR for the public.

UNAIR’s selection as one of the top 15 public institutions nationwide was based on the assessment guidelines outlined in the 2023 Monitoring and Evaluation stage. UNAIR was selected during the plenary session of the KIP, followed by a visit, which was conducted on Friday, December 18, 2023.

The rector claimed that UNAIR’s score has significantly increased. He hoped that the university would achieve a better score, or even secure the second or third position nationwide.

“The visit results would serve as an evaluation for UNAIR in the future. Stay spirited and informative. We will ensure that the information needed by the public is available. More information can be found related to inclusivity and innovation in public information services,” he said.

UNAIR achieved the award for the Most Informative Institution alongside 34 other state universities. The awards were classified into seven categories: state university, state-owned enterprise, political party, ministry, provincial government, non-structural agencies and non-ministerial agencies.
