AYE offers benefits to young entrepreneurs Wednesday, 20 March 2024 14:50

UNAIR NEWS – With the job market becoming increasingly competitive, students are urged to extend their learning beyond the confines of the classroom. Entrepreneurship has become one of the skills emphasized for students to hone. Therefore, the Directorate of Career Development, Entrepreneurship Incubation, and Alumni Affairs (DPKKA) has taken steps to realize this by organizing the Airlangga Youth Entrepreneur (AYE) 2024 event.

On Saturday, March 16, 2024, DPKKA held a sharing session via Instagram Live regarding AYE 2024. The speaker was Edith Frederika Puruhito SKm MSc (MedSci), the Coordinator of Entrepreneurship at DPKKA UNAIR.

AYE as platform for developing students’ entrepreneurial interests

AYE serves as a platform to identify UNAIR students with entrepreneurial interests, whether in the form of ideas or existing businesses. Several groups will be selected to participate in a boot camp to develop their entrepreneurial ideas. The boot camp lasts for approximately five months and takes place every weekend.

According to Edith, AYE is an intriguing platform because students not only learn theoretically as in classrooms. “In AYE, students will not only gain theories but also something that can be directly applied later,” she explained. She also added that AYE 2024 would be special as it collaborates with the Asia Council for Small Business (ACSB) and the Markplus Institute.

Benefits AYE offers

After completing the boot camp, Edith stated, students will undergo a four-week internship. During the internship period, students need not worry about finding the right placement. Through collaboration with ACSB, they will be directed to suitable internship placements according to their respective entrepreneurial types.

Following the internship period, there will be a business assessment process to evaluate the progress made in their businesses. Finally, at the end of the event, students will hold an expo to introduce their businesses to the wider community. The best groups will have the opportunity to receive financial assistance for their businesses up to ten million Indonesian rupiahs.
