UNAIR NEWS - Sharing the blessings of Ramadan, Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) distributed 8,000 food packages. The distribution took place at Airlangga Convention Center (ACC) MERR-C Campus, Monday (25/03/2024).

The staple food distribution was aimed at several areas in East Java, including Pasuruan, Jember Magetan, Madiun, Pacet, Sidoarjo, Surabaya and Lamongan. The targets in the distribution of groceries themselves include bidikmisi students, gojek, Bonek community, pedicab drivers, and pre-prosperous people.

"Alhamdulillah, of course the momentum of Ramadan is one of the blessings for all of us. Hopefully what we give to orphans, orphanages, and underprivileged families will be our way to heaven," said Prof Dr Mohammad Nasih, SE MT Ak, as UNAIR Rector during his speech.

Addition Plan
Furthermore, Prof Nasih said, he hoped that in the future UNAIR could provide additional groceries to a total of 10,000 groceries for distribution. Prof Nasih also said that the addition could be implemented by setting aside some of the allowances.

Later, the allowance that has been set aside will be used as UNAIR's endowment fund in various Ramadan blessings activities. "At least, this is our endeavour so that we can enter heaven together," he said.

Prof Nasih also apologised to the families of the committee who were left behind for days of Ramadan blessing preparation. He also hoped that the entire academic community would contribute to goodness by increasing their proportions.

Joint Contribution
Prof Dr Muhammad Madyan SE M Si M Fin also expressed his gratitude to the committee involved in the preparation of the Ramadan blessings. He hoped that the food packages could help the poor and underprivileged in the month of Ramadan. "Great appreciation, ladies and gentlemen, because it is extraordinary that 8,000 food packages can be packed in one week," he said.

Prof Madyan also hoped that next year he could realise the addition of 10,000 packages as Prof Nasih had said. Prof Madyan also said there were differences in the distribution of basic food in 2024. The reason is not only from the rectorate, but all faculties and directors also participate in setting aside their fortune to contribute to the blessing of Ramadan.

In addition, Dr Eko Supeno Drs M Si as the chairman of the committee also hoped that the charity of all donors (UNAIR officials, ed) and the committee team could motivate other friends to always share kindness. He also ensured that all food packages distributed were of high quality.

"Alhamdulillah, we managed to prepare a total of 24 tonnes of rice, eight tonnes of oil, sugar, oil, noodle seasonings and other items with high quality. Alhamdulillah, yesterday we also got low prices because we always emphasise the importance of charity," he concluded.
