UNAIR NEWS - Directorate of Career Development, Entrepreneurship Incubation, and Alumni (DPKKA) UNAIR held Airlangga Entrepreneur Club again. The activity was entitled Continuous Improvement Methods for Business Growth which took place on Wednesday (20/3/2024) through a zoom meeting. Present as a guest speaker, Reza Zamir as Co-Founder of SyariHub.id.

Reza stated that in business it is necessary to have proper business management, so that the business can run sustainably. He revealed that it is important to have business improvements, whether carried out every month or every year. He added that if there is no business improvement, it will have an impact on the overall performance decline in the business.

"When I first started building my business, I still didn't know how business improvement works, which led to poor business management. At worst, if there is no business improvement, it will result in business failure," he said.

Reza recommended a book to read in building a business cycle, namely the book "The Lean Startup" by Eric Ries. He explained in the book there is a business cycle starting from building, measuring, learning, and this cycle runs continuously to create sustainable business management.

"Like blood that continues to flow in the body to continue to support life, business is the same. In order for the business to continue running, it needs improvement and renewal following the times," he said.

Objectives and Key Result Method
Reza revealed that there is an objectives and key results (OKR) method to build business management. He explained OKR is a performance management method that describes the goals achieved.

"The OKR method in business can be applied on a quarterly basis. Quarters can be done every three months with achievements that must be compiled and on target, so that at the end of the year the goals in business can be achieved," he said.

Reza revealed that in achieving OKR, there needs to be a systematic "design sprint" in the business. He explained the elements that need to be considered in the "design sprint" include understanding the business to be created, determining product choices, making prototypes, and validating them with testers.

"The OKR method that I created is aligned with design sprint, I have applied it through several businesses that I have, this is an efficient and sustainable business management method," he explained.
