UNAIR NEWS - Alumni Family Association (IKA) of Internal Medicine (IPD) Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) built a borehole well to overcome the drought that hit the Tulungagung community. This time, IKA IPD UNAIR collaborated with the Government of Tulungagung Regency. The inauguration of the borehole took place on Sunday, May 19, 2020 at the drilling site, Tenggar Hamlet, Tenggarejo Village, Tulungagung.

Chairman of IKA IPD UNAIR, Dr. Muhammad Mahfudz SpPD FINASIM who was also present at the inauguration said that this is the second time IKA IPD UNAIR has contributed to the community in the form of a borehole well. Previously, IKA IPD UNAIR had also built a borehole well in Bondowoso.

The construction of this borehole well is a collaboration with various parties, including the Surabaya Branch of the Indonesian Association of Internal Medicine Specialists (PAPDI), IKA UNAIR Tulungagung, and a number of other organizations. "Alhamdulillah, we have built a borehole well for the second time between the collaboration of PAPDI, IKA IPD, and IKA UNAIR," he said.

The existence of the borehole well, said Dr. Mahfudz, is proof of IKA IPD UNAIR's contribution to the community. Especially in the health sector. Given, the condition of Tenggarejo Village is prone to drought.

"Hopefully we can have an impact on the people of Tenggarejo Village. With this borehole well, hopefully it can contribute to health for the community, especially to realize proper sanitation, "he said.

At the end, Dr. Mahfudz also emphasized the importance of maintaining the existence of this new water source. Not only for the village government, but also for the community in general. He hopes that the construction of this borehole well will bring sustainable benefits.

"Our second hope is that the borehole well must be maintained not only by the government but also by the community here so that it remains sustainable in the process of usefulness," he added.
