UNAIR NEWS - Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) once again showed its fangs in the international arena. The world's best university ranking agency, QS World University Rankings (QS WUR) 2025 released its latest ranking on Wednesday, June 5, 2020. In the ranking, UNAIR managed to occupy the 308th position of the best universities in the world. Even this year-to-year achievement brought UNAIR to be awarded as The Most Improved University in Asia.

Rector of Universitas Airlangga Prof. Dr. Mohammad Nasih SE MT Ak said that the improvement of UNAIR to reach the world's top 500 universities is an extraordinary gift. He hoped that in 2025, UNAIR could reach a position below 300.

"Since the beginning, being part of the world's top 500 has been an extraordinary gift. Especially now that our position is at 308, it is certainly an extraordinary gift," he explained.

According to him, ranking is one of the benchmarks in conducting an evaluation in fixing what elements are sufficient and need to be addressed. "Ranking is not the main goal, but ranking can also be a comparison with other universities," he explained.

Assessment Indicators
There are several assessment indicators that encourage UNAIR to reach this position. The first is employer reputation or commonly called the reputation of graduates in the world of work. UNAIR is ranked 80th in the world and 2nd in Indonesia with an increase of 15 points from the previous year.

Then, in the international research network (IRN) indicator, UNAIR is in the number 1 position in Indonesia and 701+ in the world. Meanwhile, in the academic reputation indicator, UNAIR is positioned 232 in the world and number 4 in Indonesia with an increase of 22 points.

In the faculty student ratio indicator, UNAIR is positioned at 259 in the world and number 3 in Indonesia with an increase of 42 points. And in the international faculty indicator, UNAIR reached 330th in the world and 3rd in Indonesia with an increase of 49 points. In addition, there are also indicators of sustainability, employment outcomes, citations per faculty, and international research network.

According to him, this position is a joint achievement from the results of hard work so far. The cohesiveness between the academic community from one another is the key to staying focused and consistent in maintaining the quality of the university.

"Alhamdulillah, UNAIR can still focus on working, be enthusiastic and istiqomah in achieving goals. And thank God, UNAIR academic community members including staff, lecturers, alumni and stakeholders have a joint commitment in maintaining the quality of the university and we achieve it together," he explained.

The Most Improved University in Asia
Consistency and focus also brought UNAIR to be awarded as The Most Improved University in Asia. The achievement is proof that UNAIR is the most rapidly developing university in Asia.

"Alhamdulillah, UNAIR can focus on work and always be enthusiastic. This shows our consistency to stay on the right path and once again can be an asset to keep going," he explained.

This ranking increase does not necessarily make UNAIR stop improving. In the future, said the FEB professor, UNAIR will continue to make improvements and enhancements in various aspects. "We will identify and conduct informal meetings. Once there is a problem that occurs, then at that time we will make many improvements, "he said.
