UNAIR NEWS - Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) as a state university that always prioritizes public health, this time held an event entitled Bakti RSTKA Pulau Bebas TBC. The event was organized by Ksatria Airlangga Floating Hospital (RSTKA) in collaboration with the Sumenep District Health Office and Arjasa Community Health Center. This community service was held on Friday 31/05/2024 in Arjasa District, Sumenep.

This event discusses the handling of Tuberculosis (TB) disease. After this event, the organizers hope that the community can be more aware of the importance of treating this contagious disease.

UNAIR Vice Rector for Research, Innovation, and Community Development, Prof. Dr. Ni Nyoman Tri Puspaningsih MSi said that the event was a noble activity. "RSTKA does not only belong to UNAIR but to Indonesia, especially remote areas," she said.

According to him, tuberculosis is usually found in tropical countries. Climate change is not the only factor causing this disease. Evidently, in 4-season countries such as countries in continental Europe, TB disease began to appear. It is hoped that there will be collaboration between communities, government, academics, health workers in hospitals.

Meanwhile, the Head of Health Office of DKP2KB Sumenep, drg. Ellya Fardasah. She said that TB must be treated and treatment is free. So people do not need to worry about this disease.

"TB sufferers must always prepare a stock of drugs wherever and whenever. So, if symptoms appear, they can be treated immediately. If there are symptoms in children 5 years can be given therapy," he explained.

Indonesia is a maritime country but we have limited hospitals so we really feel helped by the existence of RSTKA. Health problems cannot be solved at the hospital.

During this moment, there was also a child who was born on the RSTKA Ship, Muhammad Ksatria Airlangga. He was born on November 25, 2017. He is currently in elementary school.
