President Director of Kasa Hutama Reveals the Tasks and Challenges of HR in Today's World Monday, 05 August 2024 11:26

UNAIR NEWS - Human resources (HR) has an important role in a company or business. However, along with the times, HR not only acts as functional expertise, but can also become a strategic partner. Thus, HR can find out the needs of human resources (HR) needed by a company or business.

The statement was delivered by President Director of PT Kasa Husada Wira East Java Dwi Tjahayanto, who is also an alumnus of Faculty of Psychology (FPsi) Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) in the HR Gathering "Building and Enchancing Organization Capability". The event organized by DPKKA UNAIR took place in the East Ballroom, Oakwood Hotel Surabaya on Saturday, July 20, 2020.

 

Capability
Dwi said that an organization must have a strategy. This strategy serves to organize all the resources that exist in a company. If an organization can manage resources well, it is called capability.

"So, an organization does not only talk about structure, but must cover all fields. Please note, structure is only a small part of an organization. This requires a change in mindset in looking at an organization," said Dwi.

An HR person must know whether their capabilities can support the company's strategy or not. If the capability cannot support the company's strategy, then there must be immediate changes.

"This has been proven by researchers at big consulting. The research shows that an organization that can build capabilities well will produce significant business outcomes. Rather than an organization that cannot build capability well," Dwi added.

 

Challenges
The biggest challenge that HR often forgets is the capability trap. In fact, this capability trap is the cornerstone of a company's longevity. These changes must always be followed.

Generally, capability traps will focus on the short term not the long term. This means that most will feel quickly satisfied with the achievements that have been achieved and they end up not thinking about the next steps to maintain these achievements.

"Well, this is usually a problem and we are careless in our views. We should change our thinking for the longer term and keep up with the times. Of course, it is not easy for a company to stand for a long time," he explained.

Dwi continued, in realizing this, of course, it must be balanced with good leadership. A good leader will be able to direct the flow of business and company development well. Good leaders are all the keys in a company.

Not only that, the concept of learning stop must also be done. This concept requires us to stop for a moment to evaluate a company. After that, just start over and design a strategy again for the company.

"Thus, today's HR can adapt and develop the company by following the changing times," said Dwi.
