UNAIR students win silver medal at IYS 2024 International Essay Competition Tuesday, 08 October 2024 10:42

UNAIR NEWS – Two Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) students have brought international recognition to their university. Nabila Athiyah Rohmah from the Political Science program and Venny Pramudita Rahayu from the Physics program won a Silver Medal at the International Youth Summit (IYS) 2024, held in Malaysia. The event took place at Universiti Putra Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur on Sunday, August 11, 2024.

Led by Rohmah, the team advanced to the final round after successfully passing the scientific paper selection, where they presented their research poster. Their poster, titled “Anti-diabetic Nephropathy Effects of Sambiloto (Andrographis Paniculata) Leaf Extract Tea in Male Rats (Sprague Dawley),” also won the Favorite Poster award.

“We encountered numerous challenges, from managing our time effectively to mastering scientific language for designing the research,” Rohmah explained. She added that their non-health science academic backgrounds posed an additional challenge in conducting the research.

Despite these hurdles, their enthusiasm for learning and optimism led them to this impressive achievement. Their success is particularly commendable given their demanding schedules, which include both campus activities and other organizational commitments.

This accomplishment demonstrates UNAIR students’ ability to compete on an international level and underscores the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration in scientific research. This success is expected to inspire other UNAIR students to continue innovating and producing high-quality work across various academic fields.
