UNAIR NEWS - Directorate of Career Development, Entrepreneurship Incubation and Alumni (DPKKA) Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) held Airlangga Career & Internship Club (ACIC) seminar. The seminar, which collaborated with Kinobi and focused on personal branding, took place on Tuesday, September 3, 2020. The title of the seminar was “Step Up Your Career Game: Crafting a Standout CV and Maximizing Personal Branding on Linkedln”.

The event which was held in Cendrawasih Hall, Dharmawangsa-B Campus, UNAIR presented speaker Dinda Angkotasan. She is a customer success, Kinobi associate who has expertise in human resources. At the opening of the material, Dinda said that in the world of professional work, having a strong personal branding is one way to increase career opportunities.

Building Personal Branding
Next, Dinda explained the importance of building personal branding. According to her, there are three main reasons. First, by having good branding, people will recognize your persona so that it will increase career opportunities. Second, it can increase credibility. Third, it encourages the opening of career opportunities.

“Now, with good personal branding, friends will have greater potential for career opportunities. Because companies or recruiters will certainly assess and consider the personal branding that we have built,” he said.

Furthermore, Dinda said that in the professional world, you can use CV and Linkedln to build branding. When making a CV, Dinda emphasized to include relevant keywords according to the field of work and write down hard skills and soft skills in detail and specifically. According to her, an ideal CV is one that is relevant to the job. “Ideally, a professional CV is one page, maximum two pages,” she said.

He also gave tips for an interesting CV. “You use the five second rule. Ask a friend to read your CV for five seconds, then what information does he get from the CV?” he said.

Optimizing Linkedln
Not only emphasizing the use of CVs, Dinda also shared tips on improving personal branding on Linkedln. “Similar to other social media, Linkedln is a professional platform to support careers,” she explained.

Tips for improving Linkedln according to Dinda are to use a profile photo that is confident, shows confidence, and avoids using fitting photos. Second, put up an interesting headline in the form of keywords, areas of expertise, and work experience.

At the end of the event, Dinda provided motivation to build a career. According to her, having the desire and strong will to learn from anyone and anywhere. Because extensive relationships will make it easier to build a career. “Starting a career is not an easy step. But rest assured everything will go well, if we want to start,” she concluded.
