UNAIR Alumnus Shares Key to Success as Nursepreneur in Talk Us NERS Thursday, 17 October 2024 09:21

UNAIR NEWS - Airlangga Nursing Journalist Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) held another Talk Us Ners talk show. The talk show was titled “Nursepreneur Serving with Heart, Innovating with Action”. The talk show took place on Saturday, September 21, 2020 at the Joint Lecture Building (GKB) MERR-C Campus UNAIR.

The talk show presented Teguh Dwi Saputro SKep Ners MKep who is an alumnus of Faculty of Nursing (FKP) UNAIR as a speaker. Teguh is a modern circumcision and wound care practitioner who successfully runs a modern circumcision service business through homecare.

Starting the material, Teguh said that entrepreneurship is not just a profession. It is also a mentality that nurses need to have in today's competitive era. “Nurses' job prospects are now not only limited to hospitals or health centers. We also have a great opportunity to enter the world of entrepreneurship in the health sector. Entrepreneurship is not a profession, but a mentality. This mentality needs to be owned by a nurse as a nursepreneur,” she said.

The First Step
Teguh explained that the first step to becoming a nursepreneur is to identify business opportunities. “We must be able to use SWOT analysis to identify whether the opportunity is big or not. Do market research to find unmet healthcare needs. As nurses, we can join training in modern fields such as wound care, baby spa, or beauty clinics that are currently trending,” he explained.

Teguh added that after finding an opportunity, the next step to becoming a nursepreneur is to make a well-thought-out business plan and build a network.

“Make a business plan that includes the vision, mission, and marketing strategy of the product or service you want to offer. One more thing, if we want to do business in the health sector, we cannot work alone. Therefore, we need to establish networks and partners to build our business,” she added.

Key to Success
Furthermore, Teguh shared the key to success in becoming a nursepreneur through a strong character. Teguh emphasized that confidence is the main key. However, before taking a step, it is important to do research to find out the potential of the products we will offer.

“Before taking a step, we must do research to find out the potential of the product we are going to offer. Does the product have a long or short term? The profit margin generated must also be considered. For example, if the product margin is thin, we need to produce in large quantities,” he said.

Teguh also emphasized that never giving up is the main thing in building a business. “There are no entrepreneurs who succeed immediately. All require high dedication and commitment. The beginning is difficult because building trust is not easy,” he said.
